Health and Safety Audit – Exeter, Devon and the Southwest

A health and safety audit is a review of your health and safety management system and safety culture to establish your current legal compliance and identify areas for improvement.

Health and Safety audit assists a business by helping to raise health and safety standards, maximising efficiency by helping to reduce lost time and resources which in-turn lead to maximising profit margins.

What does a Health and Safety Audit involve?

A Safety Audit will typically involve a systematic review of 3 distinct areas:

  • Health & Safety Documentation, e.g. Health & Safety Policy, Risk Assessments, Training Records, inspection and maintenance records
  • Management and employee attitudes to health and safety. Assessed through discussion with Managers and staff, compliance with work procedures
  • Observation of work environment standards, e.g. housekeeping, machinery guarding, use of PPE, etc.

What is the outcome of a Health & Safety Audit?

A good Health and Safety Audit will include an Action Plan with recommendations for improvements, together with suggested timescales.

Richard Hookway
Managing Director
Richard Hookway is the lead consultant who established Amarisk in 2005. He is a Chartered Safety Practitioner, with over 20 years generalist experience in the industry. He supports clients using a personal and common-sense approach.

Our approach is personal and specific to each client.

We call it the ‘seat-belt culture’. Most of us wear a seat belt when driving; we do this sub-consciously, and we feel uncomfortable when not wearing one. Encouraging people to embrace safety in the same manner is our principal aim.
