Retained Health and Safety Advisor Service

What is Retained Health and Safety Advisor Service?

Our Retained Health and Safety Advisor Service provides you with unlimited access to our expertise. This is provided through a partnership approach, providing you with peace of mind that you are meeting your legal obligations, allowing you to concentrate on your daily business commitments.

What are the main features of the service?

Our competent advisor safety service can be tailored to your specific needs, but here are the key features:

  • Personal service – you will deal with one named person, not a customer service centre.
  • Unlimited access to our competent Safety Consultants via email, telephone and Teams Video
  • Regular planned and ad hoc visits as required to conduct audits, inspections and accident investigations.
  • Development and monitoring of your safety management systems and ongoing compliance.
  • Policy and Procedure Development, examples include:
    • Health and Safety Policy
    • Risk Assessments / Method Statements (RAMS)
    • Training / Induction documents
    • Manual Handling Guidance
    • Display Screen Equipment assessments
    • Accident procedures

  • Training documentation, e.g. induction, toolbox talks
  • SSIP Accreditation Support, e.g. SMAS, CHAS, SafeContractor, Constructionline, and others.
  • Assistance with Tender Applications

How is the service charged?

We charge on a monthly basis.

Is there any initial outlay?

In most circumstances - no. All development work including initial audits is included in the fixed monthly fee. This assists your cashflow, helping avoid large lump sum payments.

Is there a minimum contract term?

We ask that you initially commit to a 12-month contract, after which the service continues on a rolling monthly basis.

How does this service work?

We visit you to initially conduct a Safety Audit which identifies levels of current compliance and improvement actions required. This generates an action plan, with timescales agreed to suit you.

We develop your Safety Management System and documentation in partnership with you (specific to your requirements).

We regularly visit and communicate with you (both planned and ad hoc) to conduct further audits, provide support, coaching and guidance. Our support is provided both in-person and remotely to keep you on track.

Managing Director
Richard Hookway is the lead consultant who established Amarisk in 2005. He is a Chartered Safety Practitioner, with over 20 years generalist experience in the industry. He supports clients using a personal and common-sense approach.

Our approach is personal and specific to each client.

We call it the ‘seat-belt culture’. Most of us wear a seat belt when driving; we do this sub-consciously, and we feel uncomfortable when not wearing one. Encouraging people to embrace safety in the same manner is our principal aim.
